A blog post about why I haven't been writing blog posts. And summer. And fun-ness.

Open Field

I took a look at my website yesterday. It had been awhile. And then I realized that I hadn't written a blog post in far too long. So here I am. "What have you been doing, Madison, if not spending your summer regaling us with ridiculous and oh-so-wise tales about acupuncture and yoga?!?!" - you ask. And I reply - "I have been learning to play. And it is good." I've spent this summer shaking off the last SEVEN YEARS of full-time school plus part-time work, studying for board exams, writing board exams, recovering from boards exams, and then working my ass off to pay for aforementioned school and board exams (do you see a theme here?!?)

In short, I have spent my early twenties being an irreproachably responsible adult.

And I'm glad I did. I feel so so blessed to have been able to move quickly into supporting myself in a career I absolutely love. To have not one, but two jobs I'm totally passionate about. To not have student loan debt hanging over my head. But now... It's time for fun.

Time for sunshine-y bike rides and dancing in forests and swimming in lakes and rivers and oceans.

For leisurely brunch dates and sunset kayaks and sitting on beaches and sleeping in tents.

For hilarious banter and uncontrollable giggles and unrestrained guffaw-ing. In Chinese Medicine, the summer season is associated with the Fire element.

This is the part of the year where we warm up as much as the weather does.

The Fire element is ruled by the Heart. It looks for connection and joy and love. It sets a beat, a rhythm. It brings people together. Fire is social, is inclusive. It communicates, it laughs and plays. So if you don't hear from me again in the next two months, it's because I'm out in the sunshine making new friends.

And come September 27th, I will be traveling to Mysore, India for three months of intense yoga and loads of learning. At which point I will probably write way too many blog posts.

And so it goes.

Wishing you much summer warmth <3
